After a six year hiatus, singer Teyana Taylor is back with a footwear collab to grab your attention. Her previous collaborations involved a bronze-clad adidas high top and an almost all-red Reebok Question Mid, so it’s obvious she’s not afraid of a bold approach. Moving up a notch on the pantheon of sneaker silhouettes is Taylor’s next collaboration with Jordan Brand, decorating the Air Jordan 1 High Zoom Comfort 2 with her “Rose In Harlem” motif.
The pair is loaded with asymmetrical Swoosh detailing, with the right foot bearing an embroidered red Swoosh covered in green thorns, while the left foot finds thick black Swoosh zig-zag stitched across the side wall. This AJ1 High Zoom CMFT 2 is also constructed with some top-tier materials as cracked white leather forms the ankle collar and supple leather is found on the underlays. Small “x” or puncture marks can be found on the left foot, implying how one side is inflicting damage on the other. Two gold-ringed eyelets grace the ankle stability strap which adds to the premium feel of this release. A set of yellow laces in combination with the sail midsole, add to the OG aesthetic that is implied through the old ‘80s collegiate colours.
While some sneakerheads are split on the embroidered Swoosh with thorn detailing, it would be silly to ignore all the other quality storytelling and detailing that the collab has to offer.
