Throwing it all the way back to 2001, Michael Jordan himself wore this Player Exclusive colourway during his two seasons at the Washington Wizards. This brief stint would lead to MJ donning his new numbered Air Jordan iterations like the AJ16 and AJ17, as well as new retro editions such as the Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey” and this very own Air Jordan 3 “Wizards” colourway. For many keen-eyed Jordan fans, getting a chance to finally own this MJ Player Exclusive is a dream come true.
Closely resembling the “True Blue” iteration, the Air Jordan 3 “Wizards” arrives in a white, blue and cement-print colour scheme. A mixture of soft and tumbled leather forms the white leather panelling, while the elephant print overlays are constructed from a nubuck suede. Copper tones are added to the eyelets, embroidered Jumpman and outsole branding for this 2023 edition, details that would have matched Jordan’s Wizards uniform at the time. The tooling is very similar to that of the Air Jordan 3 “Reimagined” release, with reduced padding around the ankle collar being the most obvious sign. However, due to these originally releasing in the early 2000s, these come packaged in a true blue and elephant print box instead of the pre-aged Air Jordan 3 box.
Hitting SNKRS as well as select retailers on the 29th of April, the Air Jordan 3 “Wizards” is a grail to many and a great “True Blue” alternative to others.
