When it comes to Original Air Jordan colourways, the “Cherry” Air Jordan 12 is definitely among the best of them. While the AJ12 has yet to be adopted by the mainstream sneakerhead, those who are lucky enough to have watched Michael Jordan playing during the ’96-97 season will tell you first hand, how good they looked gliding up and down the court.
It’s been over 10 years since we’ve last seen the “Cherry” AJ12 drop in 2009, so news of a retro would have undoubtedly been a happy surprise for fans of the silhouette. The white quilted leather, red pebbled mudguard and silver eyelets are a warm return to what some may consider the pinnacle of Jordan Brand’s ‘90s Basketball design. As these have always boasted more of a functional Basketball aesthetic than earlier Jordan models, we look forward to seeing how they’ll fit into the lifestyle trends of 2023.
These are set to release during the holiday season of 2023, so the images used are from the 2009 drop and not official photos from the Swoosh. It’ll be interesting to see if the “Cherry” AJ12 will receive a similar “Reimagined” make-up as seen on the Air Jordan 3, but until then we’ll be expecting a straight-up retro.
